Thuy Nguyen

Thuy Nguyen is a licensed acupuncturist and mother of three wonderful children. Berkeley Community Acupuncture represents a culmination of her love of Chinese medicine, her commitment to family and community, and her desire to effect positive social change.

Prior to Berkeley Community Acupuncture, Thuy founded Wu-Wei Acupuncture and Healing Center . Thuy is a certified Medical Qigong Practitioner.

Samuel Jin

Samuel is a licensed acupuncturist working Berkeley Community Acupuncture. Samuel holds a degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. After years of biology internships and research, Samuel attended the Wharton School of Business undergraduate program, becoming a market maker/trader on the Nasdaq exchange. Following a loss in the family, Samuel he fortuitously stumbled upon acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Acupuncture's herbs, principles and teachings resonated deeply.

In the study and practice of this rich philosophy, Samuel found deeper balance. He believes acupuncture is an incredible art that allows him to live according to his inner truth.

Rosemary Kim

Rosemary Kim is a licensed acupuncturist who studied at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland. Rosemary was first exposed to Eastern concepts of health while studying psychology. Her curiosity was further developed by witnessing the effectiveness of an herbalist affiliated with a martial arts school she was attending. She has previously served as an acupuncturist at the Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic. By coming to Berkeley Community Acupuncture, Rosemary will be combining her interests in traditional Chinese medicine and community-based work.

Shoshana Uribe

Shoshana Uribe M.S., L.Ac., is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Clinical Herbalist with her Masters of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a certification in Tui Na (traditional Chinese orthopedic massage). She has been a massage therapist for over 10 years and is a mother to two children. Prior to studying Chinese Medicine, Shoshana worked as a gardener, health educator, and community organizer, all of which have deeply influenced her practice of medicine. As part of her clinical training, Shoshana has worked at the Women's Community Clinic in San Francisco, the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic, and the ACTCM Ear Clinic, and she has pursued post-graduated study in Women's Health and Pediatrics.

Shoshana's practice is inspired by the body's ability to heal and by a strong belief in our interconnectedness with the earth and each other. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, dancing, hiking, reading and relaxing.

Elisa Kim

Elisa Kim is a licensed acupuncturist and bay area native. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a degree in psychology and music, she developed a deep interest in preventative medicine and medicinal herbology. This led her to study Traditional Chinese Medicine at ACCHS in Oakland. Elisa also works at a Chinese herb pharmacy and maintains a practice in Walnut Creek. She is excited to join BCA and grateful for the opportunity to share the beauty of Chinese medicine with her community.

Naandi Puja-Joy

Naandi Puja-Joy is a licensed acupuncturist with her M.S. in Traditional Chinese Medicine from ACCHS in Oakland. As a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine Naandi views the body, mind, and spirit as an integrative whole: each one has to be in balance to be in a state of good health. Along with a BA in Human Development, Naandi has a background massage and cosmetology. She specializes in pain management, women's health (PMS, menopause), facial rejuvenation, dermatology and stress management. She is dedicated to being your partner for health, and will always reserve a loving and compassionate space for you to heal and achieve total wellness.

Lauren Kaneko-Jones

Lauren Kaneko-Jones is the Office Manager at BCA. She was born and raised in Berkeley. Lauren holds a B.A. in Communications and Minor in Spanish from Pace University in New York City. After spending five years in New York she decided to move back home to be closer to her six nieces and nephews. Lauren is starting Acupuncture school in the fall 2009. She loves photography, traveling and Spanish.
